Philip Harris Rubens’ Tube - 2m Pro With Amplifier
Philip Harris Rubens’ Tube - 2m Pro With Amplifier
Product code: E8R07131
Product Description
Intended for teacher demonstration use, the Rubens' Tube Pro is an exciting and very visual way to demonstrate the concept of a standing wave.
By making measurements, it is also possible to calculate the speed of sound. The Rubens' Tube Pro has a built-in amplifier so it can be driven by a wide range of signal sources including phones and tablets.
Specification:
- Length: 2m
- Speaker: 20W, 8Ω
- Amplifier: 7W mono
- Input sensitivity: 40mV
- Power supply: 15V 0.5A dc
- Gas supply: Natural gas or Propane (40 millibar max)
- A highly visual demonstration of wave motion.
- Can be driven by a wide range of signal sources including signal generators, phones and tablets.
- Key Stage 4 Physics - Wave Motion: Transverse and longitudinal waves. Describe wave motion in terms of the wavelength and frequency of waves , explaining how these may be measured, that they are transverse, that it is the wave and not the flame itself that travels; explain the relationship between frequency and wavelength.
- GCSE Required Practical: Waves
- A Rubens Tube should only be operated by a teacher or technician. It is not suitable for student use.
- On delivery and before operation, the air holes along the tube should be checked for any obstruction (e.g. dust from transportation/storage). Any blockages can be removed using a thin piece of wire.
