This physics Air Table is perfect for near frictionless two dimensional motion to study position, velocity, acceleration, conservation of energy, and collisions. 

Kit contains:

  • 1 x Air table
  • 2 x Levelling Feet
  • 4 x Installed Table Bumpers
  • 8 x Air Pucks
  • 8 x Velcro Bumpers
  • 8 x Rail Pins
  • 8 x 7g (0.245oz) Donut Masses 

The air table is constructed of heavy gauge anodised steel. The workable surface measures 65cm by 45cm with major graduation of 5 cm and minor graduations of 1 cm. It also has pre-installed flexible cable bumpers for doing movement, launches, collisions, and a variety of other physics experiments. The rails above bumpers except rail pins for designing custom experiments

The air pucks are made of durable plastic and masses can be added as well as Velcro bumpers for elastic of inelastic collisions

  • This air table requires a blower (not included), most air track blowers will work.
  • The outer diameter of the air input is 3cm.
  • A memorable and highly visual way of demonstrating Motion and Forces and Friction. 
  • Key Stage 3 Physics - Motion and Forces: Forces as pushes or pulls, arising from the interaction between 2 objects. Forces: associated with deforming objects; stretching and squashing – springs; with rubbing and friction between surfaces, with pushing things out of the way; resistance to motion of air and water.  Forces being needed to cause objects to stop or start moving, or to change their speed or direction of motion (qualitative only). Relative motion: trains and cars passing one another.
  • Key Stage 4 Physics - Forces and Motion: Acceleration caused by forces; Newton’s First Law. 
  • Use with a standard laboratory Air Blower to create a friction-free surface.
