The unit is ideal for accurate measurement of either cumulative electrical energy delivered to a load from a power supply, or instantaneous power. A range of experiments are possible from simple investigations into specific heat capacity to measurement of energy stored in LCR Circuits.

The device can accept AC and DC power with a maximum of 25V DC & 15V AC and a maximum capacity of 10A. The device has two ranges one for Joules & Watts and the other for mJ & mW. The device should be used in the J & W setting unless the correct setup is in place for mJ & mW as a maximum of 10mA is the limit for this mode.

Features:

  • Display: 4-digit, LED display
  • Input: 24V DC max or 15V rms AC max.
  • Capacity: 10A max or 10mA in mJ/mW mode
  • Power: Mains unit with 1.8m of 3-core cable, illuminated ON/OFF Switch & 1A fuse.
  • 4-digit LED display of either energy delivered or power supplied
  • Dimensions:
    • Width: 175mm
    • Height: 100mm
    • Length: 160mm
  • An instruction manual of experiments is included
  • This device is compliant to EN61010-2010 with certificates available on request
  • Measures AC & DC power
  • Key Stage 3 Physics - Energy: Comparing power ratings of appliances in watts (W, kW).
  • Key Stage 4 Physics - Electricity: Power transfer related to p.d. and current, or current and resistance
  • Key Stage 4 Physics - Energy: Power as the rate of transfer of energy.
  • Key Stage 4 Physics - Structure of Matter: Calculating energy changes involved on heating, using specific heat capacity; and those involved in changes of state, using specific latent heat.
  • Ensure the circuit is set up correctly before use and only use the mJ/mW setting if confident the current is low enough.
